Owen Campbell plays the director. Jenna Ortega plays a soundperson. She discovers that she is an improved actor on screen than behind the camera. While it's not a critical film, "X" is an engaging look forward to film buffs and non-cinema buffs. It has a likable cast, some witticism and a few good sex, and a whole lot of stunning sequences. In many ways, X follows in the tradition of A24 arthouse horror films, striking ideas and themes in the forefront as an alternative of bloodshed and gore. Unlike a slasher film, movies about pornography are less about violence and more about titillation than a bloody mess. "X" follows the lives of adult filmmakers in a small town. The filmmaker Wayne tries to cut corners with the film's budget, and his girlfriend Maxine, Bobby-Lynne, and Brittany Snow work with him on the assignment.
