While this will temporarily drive the monster out of range, it is usually best to crouch or use explosives (preferably hand grenades) as a distraction. The Tentacle Monster is a dangerous, but intelligent monster that responds to sound and vibrations. In the 1st Half-Life episode, it's the main threat to Hyun Cha and Jisu as they try and rescue Dusik Hahn from its clutches. Despite their makes an attempt to kill it with Wook Pyeon's weapons, it fast learned to use its sprinkler system to save itself from being killed.
