One study, performed on over 200 adults, demonstrated that increased porn consumption was linked to negative stereotypes about women in addition to hostility against them. Another study examined how media portrayals of rape and sexual assault impacted people's ideals. They found that those who watched pornographic material were more more likely to accept rape myths compared to a control group, though this wasn't true across all sex ideals. While this does not prove that porn may make it easier for individuals to accept rape and sexual assault as reliable reports, it does suggest that such publicity could very likely make such acts more acceptable. Pornography often depicts sexual acts that involve coercion of one or more members. Some elements are violent, appearing people being whipped, beat, bound, tortured, mutilated or raped. Other parts are nonviolent but degrading. These depict a whole lot of sexual activities which includes gay and heterosexual relationships among consenting individuals. MacKinnon has called the pornography industry an "epidemic of sexual slavery," where inclined women are exploited and trafficked which will become profitable. This practice of trafficking ends up in accusations that these businesses exploit inclined women for profit. Pornography can also be used as a way of controlling the behavior of someone with mental health issues which includes obsessive-compulsive disorder or substance abuse issues.
