These samples included men and women. We tested the effect of a novelty video boredom induction and a run of the mill video task on two diverse sets of individuals. For each set, we asked them to complete a sequence of multitasking tasks. As shown in the figure above, the activity induction was not as constructive as the boring one. However, we did find that there has been a small but statistically huge increase in the time spent multitasking on the boring one. Our study is the first to observe the effect of a novelty video boredom on media multitasking.
