In 1969, Warhol's Blue Movie was screened for the 1st time publicly, and was even re-published in New York for the 1st time in thirty years. In 2016, it was shown at the Whitney Museum of American Art in Manhattan. The film's recognition triggered Warhol to supply an updated version of the film. However, it was not widely distributed until July 21, 1969, when it was published to a wider viewers at The New Andy Warhol Garrick Theater in New York City. The film was a hit for Warhol, and has been a source of dialogue over the affect of the movie on Last Tango in Paris. Despite its debatable nature, the film was also a hit and has been severely acclaimed.
