This is the 1st state in the nation to enact such a rule. However, there are still a couple of questions on how the law will affect web users. Jordan Taylor, a web researcher at Carnegie Mellon University, spoke with Marketplace reporter Kimberly Adams. The law is modeled after a law in California. It requires that any web page with greater than 33. 3% of pornographic fabric be competent with an age verification system. Websites that fail to conform are discipline to fines of up to 10% of their turnover. Some critics say the system is easy to avoid. Other supporters accept as true with it'll evade underage children from viewing pornographic content. The new law is part of the Digital Economy Act of 2017 which covers a variety of areas of electronic communications. In addition to age verification, the law also covers copyright and copyright infringement.
