The chances were rising steadily because the 1990s. However, researchers aren't completely surprised by the high number of singles, and it does not always mean that Japanese women aren't drawn to dating. One cause of this could be the economic climate. The long run economic slump in Japan has a unsafe effect on pursuing long run relationships. A 30-year-old woman I know had a boyfriend eight years ago, but she doesn't desire a physical dating. She says the financial system keeps her from pursuing other goals and commitments. This trend may be partly due to an ambivalent perspective toward marriage. The first hypothesis is that Japanese women usually tend to delay marriage as they age, and the second theory posits that they are more likely to be married later in life. Nevertheless, this theory is not supported by attitudinal data. One study found that 86% of men and 89% of women who had never married deliberate to get married sooner or later. Furthermore, a couple of other reports have found that a huge percentage of unmarried Japanese need to marry at some point in the future.
