The Japanese game show format is awfully various, and has an odd and bizarre style. Candy or not candy is likely one of the most popular Japanese game shows. In the show, contestants are asked to guess whether an object is edible or not before taking a bite of it. This format can be played for prizes, which can range from US $250,000 to a trip to Japan. The show is currently broadcast on Fuji TV but older episodes are available on YouTube. Several variations of the sport show were featured on the show. The first version of the game was called Gesture and was a televised edition of charades. It wasn't until 36-40 years later that the Japanese game show genre took off in a big way. The second version of the sport show was called Takeshi's Castle, which was a biannual variety show.
