"Crimes of the Future" - one of Cronenberg's first experimental shorts - in short mentions sexual topics but mostly keeps them off-screen. While the film mentions the character manifesting new sex organs, there are no seen images. Cronenberg's films are often about nudity as a threat. In his breakout film Shivers, characters laying off outfits were infected by a parasite. The parasite took advantage of the nakedness of the victims to exploit their sexuality. Crimes of the Future - Set in a crumbling future, Crimes of the Future portrays the decaying nature of contemporary civilization. The film is in line with Cronenberg's own novel, Consumed. The story revolves around a body artist named Saul Tenser, who has a wierd situation called Accelerated Evolution Syndrome. His partner Caprice tries to remove him by excising him and tattooing him.
