A recent study found that around 22,500 Thai women worked in the Japanese sex industry. About 80 percent of them were regarded sex slaves. They were delivered to Japan by agents and paid anywhere from $25,000 to $40,000 for every sex consultation. Some agents were affiliated with yakuza gangs. They worked in brothels and "dating snack bars" in addition to love hotels. The yakuza are getting notorious in Japan. They first began to work with the Japanese executive to provide consolation women for imperial soldiers. Since then, they accelerated into pornographic corporations and sex tourism. They have also formed working relationships with other global organized crime groups. Their affect is so strong that it reaches every island in Japan. Although yakuza has become more common in Japan, it remains to be largely unnoticed in the country.
