To assess the relationship between the web and body dissatisfaction, a sample of Canadian ladies and men (aged 12-29) was recruited. These topics were interviewed on their participation in loads of activities, including using the web. They also completed a chain of pre-test measurements of body satisfaction. On average, these individuals spent over 36 hours on the web every month. Additionally, they viewed a series of tv commercials. Compared with people who did not view the advertising, people who watched the commercials pronounced significantly lower body satisfaction. The findings from this study indicate that the relationship between the internet and body dissatisfaction may be mediated by social evaluation. Specifically, it is assumed that greater social comparison approaches are prone to cause better body dissatisfaction. Moreover, the direction of social evaluation can play a major role in figuring out no matter if an individual is disenchanted with their body.
