Some are just plain good at what they do. Some actors, like David Duchovny, have tried to make the transition from pornography to conventional acting. But it is challenging. Hollywood jobs are scarce and sometimes inconsistent, so most actors struggle to make it big in the industry. When money was tight, many Hollywood actors turned to pornography for a more constant income. One of the 1st actors to break into the adult industry was Traci Lords, who was 16 when she starred in her first porn movie, Penthouse. She also gave the impression in adult magazines and numerous other films. She was hailed as the "Princess of Porn" and earned over $1,000 a day. Eventually, she made the transition to mainstream acting, and has since been cast in a few films.
