This film is a pinky violence subgenre, and has its share of photo sexual assault. Despite its violent nature, the film also deals with problems with militarization and development in Japan. Adapted from a manga series, Lady Snowblood is set in the end of the 19th century in a Japan plagued with corruption. Its low budget and shallow characters make it a tricky watch, but the film's story is easily-written. The film is directed by Toshiya Fujita and stars Meiko Kaji, who plays the titular character. The plot comprises a masked ball, deranged assassins, revolving secret doors, and one-way mirrors. The film is a satire on the opium trade in Japan, with a big amount of violent scenes.
