It is a high quality instance of confident storytelling, and continues to be one of Paul Thomas Anderson's most completed directorial efforts. In short, Boogie Nights is one of the best films of the last decade. Boogie Nights is a drama about the porn industry from the 1970s and 1980s, set in Los Angeles. The story facilities on a young nightclub dishwasher named Eddie Adams, who becomes a porn star. The film follows his rise and fall in the course of the Golden Age of Porn. It was written by Paul Thomas Anderson, who also directed the film. The cast includes Mark Wahlberg, Julianne Moore, Burt Reynolds, Don Cheadle, and Heather Graham. While the movie is a brilliantly-crafted portrait of American souls in distress, it suffers from too many flaws. The film's runtime is excessive and the pacing becomes erratic in the third act. The film is not with out its merits, but it does not win any Oscars for its performances. While Boogie Nights is not a moralizing satire of the porn industry, it is in spite of this a desirable film to see and watch.
