In the early 1980s, the lolicon boom was in full swing, and it was the perfect time to delve into new niches. For instance, there have been a number of distinctiveness magazines that concentrated on lolicon, adding Lemon People in 1981 and Manga Burikko in 1982. Also, more average lolicon art was being created at this time. Lolicon anime shows have a long history in Japan, and a robust fan community has grown up around these content-filled anime series. These series usually depict underage characters in sexual and violent situations. This subgenre has a long-lasting appeal in Japan, and there is no shortage of creators who make provocative anime and manga. While lolicon is not inherently unhealthy, it has become a hot topic for debate. It has even been criminalized, however the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund has worked to offer protection to the works of lolicon manga from prosecution. Authors such as Neil Gaiman have spoken out in favor of this type of fiction. The controversy has relevance, even though, as no causal link exists among lolicon fiction and child abuse. Moreover, experiences have shown that kid sexual attack and sex crimes against toddlers have reduced in countries where lolicon has been legalized.
