On average, these people spent over 36 hours on the cyber web each month. Additionally, they viewed a chain of television commercials. Compared with those who didn't view the commercials, people who watched the commercials said considerably lower body satisfaction. The findings from this study indicate that the dating between the web and body dissatisfaction may be mediated by social comparison. Specifically, it is assumed that increased social evaluation procedures are prone to bring about bigger body dissatisfaction. Moreover, the course of social comparison can play a major role in identifying whether an individual is disappointed with their body. Interestingly, the study found that point spent on Facebook was correlated with body dissatisfaction more strongly than commonplace cyber web use. This suggests that the electronic mainstream presents women with high-quality challenges, including a reduced means to hold a healthy body image. In addition to exploring the dating between the cyber web and body dissatisfaction, this study also tried to investigate whether there are transformations in the prevalence of body dissatisfaction between genders and between age groups. Females said higher rates of body dissatisfaction than males. However, it is feasible that diversifications in measures could account for the transformations in prevalence of body dissatisfaction between the 2 genders.
