It depicts upper middle class American Jewish women as entitled, materialistic, and neurotic. This stereotype has been humorously parodied by female comedians and filmmakers like Sarah Silverman - particularly Sarah Silverman herself!This stereotypical field is always depicted with an obsession for physical look and the urge to devour, but she also displays self-centeredness and shortage of productiveness. She typically has a companion who will indulge her wants with out judgement. These traits are reminiscent of medieval and Renaissance images of Jews as greedy and miserly. This was as a result of Jews were legally limited from occupations that would breach Christian laws, most well known them into money-lending - which was seen as a form of exploitation. However, this racial stereotype has given way to more common depictions of Jewish women as attractive and hypersexual with exotic aspects. This image, which draws from both her ancestry and sexuality, has shaped Western and Eastern art, literature, and picture alike. This personality originated in a Spanish folktale from 1292, in which an attractive Jewish woman seductively seduces a Christian king. This character became widely common across British, European, and American literature and has since been associated with hypersexuality. Though its exact origins are uncertain, this stereotype likely built in the course of the Middle Ages when Jews were prohibited from lending money. This forced them to hunt other methods of earning a living such as playing or selling alcohol.
