According to a study posted by the Asian Pacific Institute on Gender-Based Violence, more than half of all Asian women have experienced sexual or intimate physical violence. While these incidents were deemed hate crimes by authorities, they're nevertheless a misrepresentation of Asian women. In addition, Asian women are sometimes forced into stereotypes and comic strip by men's sexual fantasies. The media also normalizes these stereotypes. The history of Asian pornography shows that the first look of Asian women in pornography dates back to the yellowface stag films. White actors portrayed Asian women as hypersexual and submissive. Many of those films also protected using meat shots, a form of racial marker for racialized genitalia. Moreover, they regularly featured squealing Asian women. While some Asian pornography is a misrepresentation of Asian culture, it also contributes to stereotyping.
