Comstock served as the American anti-obscenity czar for four a long time. He believed that sex, particularly pornography, corrupted society. In the nineteenth century, advertisement pornography flourished in Europe. A variety of men joined the industry. By 1871, New York sold greater than 100,000 pornographic books a year. During the 1970s, the porn industry got a lift from the invention of the motion picture. Ricque films were screened at nightclubs and adult movie theaters. These were illegal, but they were ecocnomic to make. Pornography also benefited from the arrival of digital era. Cable tv started to introduce soft-core porn late at night. When DSL and broadband connections replaced dial-up, it became easier to watch pornography at home.
