Pornography has been a hot topic for debate for decades. The United States Supreme Court has ruled a couple of times that pornography is a contravention of free speech. The feminist objection to pornography makes a speciality of the role of pornography in the exploitation and oppression of girls. Several feminists argue that pornography is false advertisements, and libelous speech. Others agree with that pornography has the skills to undermine women's potential to take part as full citizens in public realms. Many liberals accept that some pornography is harmful. But they argue that pornography is simply a form of speech that can be prohibited, just as racial incendiary speech. Some conservatives argue that pornography is a sort of obscenity and a corrosive force in conservative moral and cultural values. They argue that pornography is not only an affront to decent family values, but in addition an expression of men's sexual gratification. Other feminists argue that pornography subverts basic gender roles. By depicting women as objects of male sexual gratification, pornography violates the civil rights of girls.
