These images, tremendously those linked to the antebellum period, elicit fear and fascination which continues to fuel racism today. Racialized portrayals of Black men in porn are becoming so entrenched that they cannot be avoided. Furthermore, as Akira has noted, these sultry images function a giant source of income for the white men who create and market them. Mireille Miller-Young has performed research that shows white men make an 85% make the most of the sale of sexualized representations of individuals of color, based on her findings. This situation not just affects those actors who create these works but their families and communities in addition. That is why some performers of color opt out of the interracial scene altogether, though it generates tens of millions of dollars in earnings. Rather than proceed being exploited, they either walk off the set or warn newer staff not to work with sure companies and directors. However, there are a few exceptions. Black female administrators are striving to empower themselves and other non-white actors by growing alternatives for them. Akira notes that many empowered black women and administrators she's encountered are "extraordinarily sensitive to racial issues. " They are always conscious of how their actions could impact others, she states, and strive to create a more robust world for themselves, their families, and fans.
