While the movie is ready one family, the game adaptation allows avid gamers to play as diverse survivors. Polygon was invited to an early preview of the game. The first film in the series was the 1970 slasher Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It's regarded to be some of the earliest slasher movies and is the origin of many slasher movie cliches. The film is about a family of cannibals living in rural Texas. The film's most famed persona is Leatherface, who wears human skin masks and wields a chainsaw. Another horror film that shares many similarities with The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is X. X also comes to a young film crew in a battle with local residents. The film crew is renting a cabin from an elderly belongings owner named Howard. The older Howard's wife, Pearl, is upset by the promiscuous activities of the more youthful crew. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is also an allegory of contemporary American society.
