In addition, the MPAA did not give protection to X-rated films under copyright laws, so the filmmakers were in a position to add even more Xs to their films. This censorship apply led to some films earning X rankings, including Jon Voigt's "Midnight Cowboy" (X) and the erotic film 'If I Were a Movie' (1981).
