Boredom is a frame of mind in which an individual is unsatisfied with the experiences in his life. A person that experiences boredom is less prone to expand healthy life goals, which may end up in a loss of meaning and motivation. This can lead to poor self-manage, a risk factor for porn intake. Researchers have been interested in the role of adaptive and maladaptive behaviours in inflicting or combating boredom. Previous experiences have found that both styles of behaviour are linked to boredom proneness. To further investigate the connection among the two types of behaviour, the current study examined self-infliction and difficult eating in the context of boredom. Self-infliction was assessed using single items, while complicated eating was in accordance with current measures. All scales contributed to the prediction of adaptive and maladaptive behaviour. The network score for adaptive behaviour was a major predictor of boredom avoidance, while the score for maladaptive behaviour was a serious predictor of escape tendencies.
