The Japanese school system has a murky idea of 'dishonest,' with many college students tolerating plagiarism as "adequate". Moreover, many Japanese believe normal work to be advanced, so a scholar who helps another student copy their homework is not regarded a cheater. This is as a result of helping one's peers is considered a valued value in the communal society of Japan. Preference for foreigners over nativesWhile the findings of the present study do not provide a definitive clarification for Japanese women's choice for foreigners, they indicate that alternative for foreigners is not always due to social concerns, but rather to an activation of a sense of self in which consistency is valued. This finding also shows that Japanese people's personal preferences aren't as far removed from their perceived norms as those of Indian people. This may be due to the incontrovertible fact that social cues often switch on normative issues, but they do not always push people clear of their non-public personal tastes. The Japanese look like less prompted by these cues, and their decisions in social contexts match their personal tastes better. Future analysis is had to test these hypotheses and discover the level to which individuals's personal tastes are encouraged by social cues. The main effect of culture on alternative was not large, but the interaction between condition and culture was. After controlling for variables, the Japanese participants showed higher choice-choice consistency than the Americans. This was supported by the undeniable fact that they were more prone to prefer foreigners over natives in the face situation.
