Previous experiences have found that both forms of behaviour are linked to boredom proneness. To additional investigate the relationship among the 2 types of behaviour, the current study examined self-infliction and intricate eating in the context of boredom. Self-infliction was assessed using single items, while difficult eating was according to latest measures. All scales contributed to the prediction of adaptive and maladaptive behaviour. The community score for adaptive behaviour was a significant predictor of boredom avoidance, while the score for maladaptive behaviour was a significant predictor of escape tendencies. Furthermore, the SBPS score mapped better to the definition of boredom than the DWB-M score. It has a medium bad correlation with the DWB-A, but a small constructive correlation with the BAE. Overall, the findings imply that a large part of the association between the 2 behaviours can be defined by a link among poor self-handle and less adaptive behaviour.28.01.2023
