This show continues to be considered the origin of the game show genre, and it simply became a worldwide phenomenon, with versions being produced in countries everywhere in the world. In this show, contestants would attempt to "take out" Count Takeshi by finishing a sequence of demanding situations. In many of the challenges, the losing contestants fell into a pit of mud or water. Another game show that has gained popularity is Candy or Not Candy, which demanding situations contestants to bite into something they think is candy. To win, a contestant must guess the accurate answer, but if they're wrong, they lose a score. And the contestants will bite into some truly weird things. Another Japanese game show is Denpa Shonen, which puts contestants via inhumane and brutal challenges. One section follows Nasubi, a young comic who aspires to be a famous comic. After losing a few thousand yen, he wins enough cash to set himself free, but a couple weeks later, he's stuck in an apartment with no food for two weeks.
