Article 212 of the Penal Code states that male persons who participate in the act are liable as accomplices. Self-censorship among artistsA recent case has shown self-censorship among artists of Japanese porn. Although the case didn't result in any major arrests, the case has led to self-censorship among artists who produce pornography. Fortunately, this is not an isolated case. Many artists have followed identical self-censorship thoughts, as do publishers and other people who make pornographic components. The majority of pornography in Japan undergoes self-censorship. The primary strategies used are electronic mosaics and placing censor bars over genitalia. These artists effort to maintain their porn content as clean and unobscene as possible while still maintaining a professional image. While the censorship practices of Japanese artists were criticized, a few artists have remained unaffected.
