The censorship of pornographic fabric maintains to this present day. In 1907, an editorial on the criminal code was added concerning appearing pubic hair. However, today, most videos depict specific sex scenes without exposing the participants' genitalia. While western censorship rules often allow full nudity in pornography, the Japanese government is proscribing content by regulating typical story themes. This new law seems to be a step in the right course and reflects the altering attitudes of the country. Regardless of its limitations, the Japanese censorship laws for pornography are still one of the strictest in the world. The law has become a focal point for debate over Japanese freedom of speech. The Japanese Penal Code (JP) prohibits sharing or dispensing "indecent materials," that are films, games, and videos that depict human genitalia. Despite these legal restrictions, adult Japanese artists have blurred out their genitalia and used electronic mosaics to conform to Japanese censorship laws. Another example of this self-censorship system is the censorship of foreign courses and flicks. Various overseas governments and artists exert pressure on the Japanese govt to make foreign courses and movies censor-free in Japan.

RorikonThe term "Rorikon" has an advanced history, but it has an easy meaning: a female character who dresses like a man. The term originated in erotic manga, a form of male escapism. However, as the affect of Japanese women increased, many men felt threatened by the sophisticated women in their lives. They turned to rorikons to bypass the truth of being with real women. The rorikon character was customarily undeveloped, childlike, and non-threatening, but was obedient to the male erotic wishes. The term "rorikon" is used in Japan for little girls under twelve years old, and it is usually interpreted as a feeling of love.
