While Ford covers the origins of pornography in a close manner, the book suffers from a loss of coherence and a lack of ordinary point. He does not mention the "new wave" of pornographic films, which began around 1990. Ford's book is a set of articles and interviews with americans who worked in the porno industry. Unlike other porno books, which frequently aim to stir outrage, this book argues that the sex industry has been a force for good. In fact, the writer points out that the Mob has been involved in early porn. Ford also deflates myths about drug addictions and child abuse. His bankruptcy on the mob's involvement in early porn is convincing. However, A History of X doesn't talk about the contemporary porn maker, who is a businessman who isn't afraid to categorical his fetishistic sexuality. He does not hold back when it involves sex among two men. This is especially crucial for a book that says to provide an objective view of the porn industry. The book is a desirable look at the history of porn, but it lacks depth and a cohesive narrative.
