This study suggests that the classic gender roles in Chinese society may have a role in young men's attitudes toward sex. The study also found that nearly half of Chinese women and almost two thirds of Chinese men does not have sex on a first date. During the Imperial period, Chinese society regarded sexual behaviour as a must-have and harmonious with the universe. It was viewed as acceptable when it was associated with procreation in a family context. Homosexuality was accepted but not inspired. In the 1980s, financial reforms in China led to a significant change in attitudes in opposition t sex. Nowadays, people are tolerant of premarital sex and extramarital sex.
