When a player encounters a tentacle monster, they can shoot at the stalk that the creature's head is connected to to drive it into its pit. Its limbs have the means to mutate, turning them into spider-leg-like appendages that can be used as spike defenses. It also can create a pit during which it can retreat when surrounded by enemies, enabling the player to sneak up on it and damage it without drawing consideration to themselves. They are sometimes depicted as unnerving, threatening creatures that can tear their sufferers apart. Their tentacles can also be used to wrap around a body and ensnare it. While the tentacles of octopuses and squid are most frequently depicted as terrifying, they can even be quite cute. This is especially true of octopus Sketchy from Welcome to Night Vale, who finally ends up being pleasant and helpful to his fellow bellboys in the show's boiler room.
