Some theaters won't even show unrated films. So it's vital to know the MPAA rating before you go to the films. The MPAA rating system was first introduced in 1968. At the time, the MPAA didn't know that the X rating would become a tainted calling card for pornography. The MPAA in the beginning meant for the X rating to indicate movies that are usually not be seen by children.
