The nation has a very alternative view of marriage and sex. In fact, multiple in five couples believe themselves married but haven't had sex in the past month. The number is creating annually, setting a record for the highest occurrence of sexless marriages in Japan. This book examines the meaning of sex and sexlessness in contemporary Japan. By evaluating the general public and educational discourses on sexlessness in Japan with those in Germany and Austria, the book questions no matter if the phenomenon of sexlessness is a Japanese problem or a global phenomenon. It engages in a re-evaluation of the which means of sex and divulges how it impacts the lives of single couples. In 2004, the Japan Family Planning Association began polling its participants about sexless marriage. This year, the survey was carried out by hand-added survey slips to almost 3,000 people among the ages of 16 and 49. The corporation also interviewed a couple of hundred married men and girls.
