But while the term lolicon has its roots in an underage female personality, it has now been used to describe an adult sexual obsession with an underage girl. The lolicon boom began in the early 1980s. It was a time of excessive consumption. The market was ripe enough to help niches and a proliferation of forte lolicon art. Several lolicon art magazines sprang up, including Lemon People and Manga Burikko.
