However, A History of X doesn't talk about the contemporary porn maker, who is a businessman who isn't afraid to express his fetishistic sexuality. He does not hold back when it comes to sex between two men. This is specially vital for a book that says to present an aim view of the porn industry. The book is a fascinating look into the history of porn, but it lacks depth and a cohesive narrative. Ford bounces from performer profile to timeline advancement, and this makes the book challenging to read. At times it feels like an ethical train wreck, and it's hard to see how any of the foremost themes can be correctly explored. A History of X appeals to insiders of the porn industry, but it is not a good book for outsiders.
