The stereotype of the Jewish American Princess (JAP) can be traced back to post-World War II literature similar to Herman Wouk's 1955 novel Marjorie Morningstar and Philip Roth's 1959 novel Goodbye, Columbus. In these memories, the JAP acts as a spoilt brat who attempts to win over the affections of a male lead. Although the Jewish Princess used to be seen as a stereotypical character, more and more women are taking on this role.
