GPHG 2021 logoThe Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve (GPHG) is a foundation devoted to the merchandising of watchmaking art. It organizes annual awards ceremonies in Geneva and any watch brand can take part with one or more watches published after March and before October of any year. To qualify, a brand must submit an end entry form and latest at least one watch at the rite. The award, shaped like a hand, was designed by Genevan painter Roger Pfund, and it symbolizes the awareness and mastery of watchmaking crafts. Each year, a jury is formed to check which timepieces will accept GPHG Awards. The Jury is led by historian and author Nick Foulkes, and is made from 30 participants. The Jury also is expanding in 2020 to include a new initiative called the GPHG Academy. This Academy includes 350 watch specialists and industry experts. The GPHG Awards rite is held in November each year. Winners are introduced in each category. To qualify for the 2021 version, a watch should have been introduced in commercial sales after May 2020, and it has to be for sale by the tip of October 2021.
