To qualify, a brand must submit an end entry form and present at least one watch at the ceremony. The award, shaped like a hand, was designed by Genevan painter Roger Pfund, and it symbolizes the wisdom and mastery of watchmaking crafts. Each year, a jury is formed to check which timepieces will take delivery of GPHG Awards. The Jury is led by historian and author Nick Foulkes, and is comprised of 30 individuals. The Jury also is expanding in 2020 to include a new initiative called the GPHG Academy.
