The extended sex scenes function little substance to the tale, as the director focuses more on the manic slasher gore aspect of the film than on the content of the film. xxx is a horror filmX Pornos is a horror film that reimagines the 1970s in rural America, with a cast that contains Jenna Ortega, Mia Goth, Martin Henderson, Brittany Snow, and Kid Cudi. The film is definitely-directed and cleverly manipulates genre archetypes. Despite its atypical setting, X is a pretty good horror film that will make any horror fan uncomfortable. A24's X Pornos is a gore-fest that pays homage to the classic '70s slasher formula. The film is a part of the current trend of artsy indie horror films, and the gore is more said than the brain. Still, X fails to surpass one horror trope, namely that of "slashing the young". This satirical horror movie sets a disturbing tone by contrasting a bible-thumping old couple with a ghoulish, pornographic film crew. The premise plays off the puritanical cliche of horror films and sets up a nice assessment among these two groups. The film is homage-heavy and well-made, but it sincerely borrows points from quite a few unbiased horror movies.
