Following reports of abuse, the govt has launched a survey geared toward recuperating the situations for girls in the AV industry. The AV industry's representative body, the Intellectual Property Promotion Association, has also urged producers to do more to improve the condition for ladies. Among the issues highlighted by HRN in its investigation of the Japanese AV industry were exploitation and violence. In some cases, women lied to sign contracts and suffered physical, mental, and monetary abuse. One woman even committed suicide. In addition, the report mentioned a rise in cases of human trafficking in Japan.
