The Court's reasoning was flawed and led to a heated debate in regards to the rights of ladies in Japan. Soon after the court's decision was announced, more than 1,000 people commented on it on Twitter, and many expressed anger over the court's logic. Despite the court's ruling, Japan maintains to have a strong pornography industry. In fact, video pornography is regulated under a section of the criminal code that dates back to 1907. This variety of pornography uses electronic mosaics to difficult to understand genitals in sex scenes. The most recent case involving obscenity in Japanese porn is the case of Kishi. The filmmaker, who shot the pinku-eiga genre, was accused of obscenity for the film KOI NO KARIUDO: YOKUBO, which featured a tender stripper who was reportedly arrested for the film. However, no other film has been accused of obscenity in Japan since 1980. The Japanese porn industry has gone beyond well-known sexuality and sexy stereotypes. It has branched out into areas of fetishization that the majority Western audience have yet to experience. In its latest film, In the Realm of the Senses, a Japanese director has challenged traditional assumptions concerning the genre, while concurrently challenging modern mores.
