According to a central authority announcement, some foreign-based internet sites failed to take effective measures after being warned about pornographic content. In the past few years, selfmade sex videos have taken the Internet by storm in China. This is partly due to rapid growth of domestic tech companies, comparable to Baidu and Alibaba. But the crackdown hasn't completely stopped pornography in the country, with hundreds of individuals facing jail time. Despite this crackdown, pornography in China remains to be a multibillion dollar industry.
