A study performed in Canada found that the common Canadian woman spends as a minimum 36 hours a month on the information superhighway. While this is a relatively small amount, this is a high share of the average Canadian's time spent online. The research shows that social comparisons in standard are correlated with poor body image. Specifically, this study found that Facebook was an improved indicator of poor body image than the regular Internet, however the latter also is an option. There are a number of reasons why body dissatisfaction is such a difficulty in the western world. First, the media portrays unrealistic and idealised body type images. For males, media depictions are more likely to result in body dissatisfaction as it is time-honored that men are aware of the force to achieve a muscular body. Body dissatisfaction has also been associated with "risky" sexual behaviors and depression. In addition, it is commonly a precursor to disordered eating. Moreover, body dissatisfaction is a massive public health concern. Consequently, there is a wish to understand the causes of such poor body attitudes.27.01.2023
