In 2003 alone, the pornography industry generated US$34 billion in income, including $8 billion in the U. S. alone. This is more than the mixed earnings of ABC, CBS, and NBC combined. Some liberals are skeptical of censorship and are in favor of banning sure forms of pornography. These liberals cite a lack of empirical facts to help the notion that pornography is harmful to women. However, they do not agree with banning pornography would in reality solve the problem. On the other hand, liberals reject the 'frightening' argument as a valid reason behind banning porn in private. In fact, the feminist case rests not on the 'scary' precept but on the contribution to sexual inequality. The rights-based feminist view has become the dominant framework in the pornography debate. In this view, pornography is an unjust and harmful undertaking as it subordinates women.
