Initially, it began with Japanese fans attending anime and manga conventions. Later, it migrated to the West, where people dressed up as their favourite characters. It has since become time-honored, infiltrating Japanese pornography. The acclaim for cosplay is due partially to the fact that Japanese pornography has long valued dress and dress. Cosplay is a Japanese portmanteau of costume and play, and was first coined in 1984 at the World Science Fiction Convention in Los Angeles. The word was coined by Nobuyuki Takahashi, who saw costumed fans at the convention and wrote about them in his Japanese journal My Anime.
