The name, lolicon, comes from the title character of the novel Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov. The term, lolicon, also refers to the transformation and sexualization of sketch characters. The term is a misnomer, as the series does not feature actual people. In Japan, Lolicon is an animation genre featuring underage boys and girls in sexual instances. This subgenre is widely popular among babies, but it is also prohibited in some states. Japan, for example, has a law allowing the possession of LOLicon, but it does not limit the production of loli. ShungaMost shunga scenes show a pair of usual people having sex, often in their homes. The low-angle shots were designed to get viewers toward the action. They were also meant to normalize the act of sex, against this to the puritanical Confucianism that dominated Japanese society. Despite the controversy, the artists behind shunga were only seeking to come back to their roots. In Japanese porn videos, the shunga matters are sometimes fully clothed.
