Owen Campbell plays the director. Jenna Ortega plays a soundperson. She discovers that she is a much better actor on screen than behind the camera. While it's not a major film, "X" is an attractive stay up for film buffs and non-cinema buffs. It has a likable cast, some witticism and some good sex, and a whole lot of shocking sequences. In many ways, X follows in the culture of A24 arthouse horror films, placing ideas and themes in the vanguard in its place of bloodshed and gore. Unlike a slasher film, movies about pornography are less about violence and more about titillation than a bloody mess. "X" follows the lives of adult filmmakers in a small town. The filmmaker Wayne tries to cut corners with the film's budget, and his female friend Maxine, Bobby-Lynne, and Brittany Snow work with him on the assignment.
