Nikkatsu has been out of enterprise for several years, but Impulse Pictures is bringing these films back to life on DVD. In addition to DANGAN Runner, the agency is freeing the film Aisuru ("To Love"), in keeping with a novel by Endo Shusaku. The author of the novel, who died last month, helped develop the script. The film is being directed by Kumai Kei, a former Nikkatsu director. It is his third Endo adaptation, following Sea and Poison and Deep River. The movie stars Sakai Miki and Watabe Atsuro.
