The individuals also wished to view scenes that were'really' not in keeping with consent, in an try and persuade the viewer that the scene was'real'. This was a paradox, as members had a conflicting desire: they wanted to be confident of the realism of the scene, but in addition they wanted to remember that they were not looking abuse. This 'consensual catch-22' ended in the members' choice for reading porn, and a greater willingness to observe it. Quality is associated with the degree of fitness for goal.
